“Mutual Fund” is an investment vehicle that pools money from various Investors to purchase a diversified portfolio of Stocks, Bonds, or other Securities. A professional portfolio manager typically manages the Mutual Fund and the Securities in which it invests, which allows individual Investors to access more easily the benefits of a diversified investment portfolio (i.e., which avoids having “all of their eggs” in one investment). The Investors in a Mutual Fund do not own directly the individual Securities held by the Mutual Fund, but rather they share equally in the profits or losses of the holdings of the Mutual Fund over time.
